Laacher See

Laacher See

Laacher See is the biggest (3,3 km²) and likely most beautiful lake of Rhineland-Palatinate.

It is a perfect place to spend you holiday in summer. I was here today for the first time and I was very pleased. Here I could lie on the sun in my dinghy without to worry that the river stream will bring me to afar from the bank.

Environmental Protection on the Rhine

March 15th, 2010

In my childhood I was going to an art school where I learned to draw and paint. I had won a prize for my drawing of the nature for Greenpeace, but at those times I could hardly imagine how I would hate these „green friends“. These funny green people were sitting like the targets at certain places in the vicinity of the river to protect some plants and animals lives of the supposed danger of extinction. In order to achieve their goals, they had surrounded some parts of banks of the Rhine with a fence and prohibited the access to the shoreline. My home is one of the “happy” places that was affected by presence of the green men, so I have apparently no longer the right to sit on the banks near the Rhine or to walk or to swim in summer. I love nature and I am accustomed to swim in open water body. The stupidest thing is that we have a lot of really interesting and rare animals there, they do not live on the banks of the Rhine but the conservationists do not pay so much attention to them.
